Download tgfcoder's Audition X-Patcher (especially designed for American Audition), install it, allow update, select 'Fix Audition' and fully re-patch (from 10001). Let's hope that eliminates false sound error.

If it does not help, then problem is on your side - and that are sound card drivers.

accept the terms and click next...

and download the one that says
Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (Executable file)

install it and restart.. it will work on any computer thats windows.. this will probably fix your sound card error
