Default [SOLUTION] Recent Issue with Game Freeze/Crash during Login

Simple Version

To fix this problem, you have to downgrade your graphics drivers.
You have to uninstall the one you already have, and install the old one.
Here's how to do it:

1) Open Control Panel > Programs and Features (or Add/Remove Programs if you're on XP)
2) AMD Install Manager > Run Install Manager
3) Custom > Tick and Uninstall Everything
4) Once Complete, Restart your Computer (IMPORTANT.)
5) After Restarting, go here: AMD CCC Display Drivers 12.3
Scroll down and you'll find the drivers.
Pick the correct one based on whether you have XP or Vista/7, OR if you have a laptop, pick the Mobility one!
If you don't know whether you're x32 or x64, just get x32. It should still be fine.
6) Install, then restart your computer (IMPORTANT.)
7) After Restarting, Audition should be working fine.

Advanced Version

AMD had their 12.4 driver update on April 25, which includes the 8.961 driver for all displays, with a new texture filtering quality improvement for all applications running DirectX9-11. It's a new filtering algorithm that supposedly doesn't affect overall performance. It proved to have a serious performance affect on the 10109 client of Audition.

Audition's already up to their 10111 update, with no resolve to this issue. AMD only strives to improve their software, with exception to large demand of bug fixes for high-volume applications and games. From a professional standpoint, I highly doubt that AMD will directly solve this issue with Audition, but rather accel in improving their drivers and technology for this new texture filtering system, regardless if it solves specific issues for minor applications or not.

With this in mind, most of the hope for a fix rests with RedBana themselves, to acknowledge this new technology brought with the 12.4 update, and adjust the game client's graphical presets to be tolerable with the new filtering system. In an earlier post, it has been noted that the issue is identified and being dealt with appropriately.

Until then, the only option is to downgrade your display drivers to 12.3. Mirrored links to these drivers for all PCs and Laptops are available here.

If you have any further questions regarding this issue, feel free to discuss below.

That's a very long explanation.
Good thing I'm not experiencing any problems.

Hello JJ,

As I've said to you previously on your ticket, this really hasn't something to do with Audition itself. The problem arises with the AMD updates.

AMD's graphic card batch release doesn't sync with their other batch of their updates. Other than the solution I gave you which you did shared it with the community is to file a ticket with AMD's support so that they can provide you with a fix.

Even if our development fixed the issue, the problem will still exist when you upgrade again your graphic card.

Yes, the appropriate action for AMD users is to report the issue to AMD's Support Department, but like I mentioned, bug fixes directed to specific applications are only noted and applied by large demand from the community. If you review the release notes for the latest driver, you can see the support given to many applications and games, based on bug reports. I'm not discouraging the effectiveness of AMD's Support and I do recommend reporting the situation to their department, but it's more likely that they'll improve their technology as a whole, rather than in accordance to target applications.

And for further assurance, the AMD Catalyst 12.5 Beta drivers are available. I will test these drivers and report if it resolves any issues from 12.4 with Audition.

For a number of specific users who were experiencing the same issue, should really report so that they would get you a fix.

Since most of the players does know that AMD had errors on some applications, I think we should obliged all players having crash problem to report on their support and specify what version of their graphic card.

I don't even see bf3 got fixed on that one. But yeah do update us with the result.

Back from testing the 12.5 update. The problem still persists.

For those who seek to solve this issue with the new drivers and Audition, you can report the problem to AMD here.

If you'd prefer to speak to somebody directly, you can visit their global technical support page and find their toll-free number to call.
I recommend posting on the forums as you'll most likely get feedback from a site moderator. The community itself is also very knowledgeable of hardware and software issues. It'll be good to expand this issue to their own forums.
