  • Solution for those with space lag and fps spikes

First off, this won't help you if your average fps is always low (slow video card), or you have network lag caused by a bad wireless network or isp (slow internet).

If you suffer from random 0 fps spikes or frame skipping it's typically because your hard drive isn't able to locate and run the sound files fast enough (a common issue especially among laptop drives). A paid solution would be to upgrade to a faster hard drive, but a free solution would be to install Audition directly into your RAM.

To do this, you'll need at least 3GB physical ram (NOT gpu ram). You can see how much ram you have by running "dxdiag" and seeing the value next to "Memory:".

Step 1 - Install Dataram RAMDisk
    http://memory.dataram.com/products-a...wnload-ramdisk

Step 2 - Configure and start the RAMDisk
When you open the program, you can see options to set how much memory and how to format the file sector. Use the settings shown below, or you may want to allocate a little more than 2000MB since Audition is getting closer and closer to that size as patches come out.

Note: In the future when Audition patches makes the total folder greater than 2GB, you'll need to increase the disk size to fit the entire Audition folder.

For those that want an NTFS partition, you'll need to select "Unformatted" and manually format it through Windows. If you wish to use the ramdisk for other purposes, simply increase the disk size (higher sized drives requires registration with Dataram). The downside to ramdisks is that data is temporary and lost when you reboot or shutdown the computer. Upon reboot, you'll either need to reinstall the ramdisk, or save an image of your ram to the hard drive and reload it. The "Load and Save" tab allows you to configure these options. For most people, it should be fastest to simply re-copy Audition into the drive each time rather than write the ramdisk data onto your hard drive.

After clicking "Start RAMDisk," make sure you allow the installation by Dataram, Inc.

Your new high-speed, ram-based hard drive will then be ready for use:

For those with ocx file errors:

    10. When I try to run the configuration tool I get one or more messages about
    unregistered “.ocx” files.
This can occur when certain common ActiveX controls that are used by the
configuration tool are improperly registered on your system. In the RAMDisk
installation directory there is a batch file “Register Components.bat”. Execute this
batch file (with administrator privileges) to properly register the ActiveX controls on
    your system.
Step 3 - Copy Audition into the Ramdrive
Open windows explorer and locate your primary Audition installation folder. Simply copy/paste that folder straight into your newly setup Ramdrive. You can then execute the patcher within the Ramdrive to start Audition. You should notice a dramatic improvement in responsiveness (not FPS) and loading time.

You need to copy that file into the windows\system32 folder.

Try typing this instead: "regsvr32 C:\windows\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX"
